We All Need Help and So Does This Character

If that day you walked down Wilson Street, you’d have seen an 18-year-old girl with earphones whistling and skipping down a puddle riddled road. The whistling was out of nervousness and the skipping partially because she didn’t want her new shoes to get wet and partly because she just couldn’t help but bounce a little bit to the great beats of Lady Gaga. I have never listened to any of Lady Gaga’s music, but I’ll take this girl’s skip as a compliment for it. This girl was named Fox. Why? Not every question needs to be answered idiot reader. I am assuming Wolf was taken. Anyway, Fox held a paper, on it was a list of pros and cons. You see, Fox was trying to decide what college to go to. She had narrowed it down to 3 from a list of 81 with a strict criterion of prestige, graduate employability rankings and how funny the name sounded. She couldn’t choose between the 3. Her parents were of no help as they couldn’t choose either. Hoping these genes making them undecisive don’t go too...

Hall

In this vast hall, that seemed to exist endlessly, there was hope diffused among the equally spaced out desks. Whether this hope is misguided or not, undeserving or not, I’ll never know nor will I ever want to know. This is maybe because I am limited to me own desk and till now the desk limited to me. I hold only but one seat. Yes only one seat, my uncomfortable seat, population: one. Like every town has their own sounds, smells and stink, so does each desk. Ten desks to my right sits a girl balancing her pen on her lips. When it falls spinning it thrice and then repeating the same. I wonder why her feet tap so rapidly. I wonder about her sweat that glistens under the fluorescent light and which is quickly evaporated by the fast fan over her head. I wonder what’s going on 2 desks to my left, where a striking girl I knew in a recently previous past sits. Some of them say and I thought that people with a pretty face have life easy and yet she with her thin mesmerising eyes was perhap...

Rainbow Skin

The black door in the corner of the room opens with a creak. A girl walks in. The girl, 16-18 years old, has long curly hair and is dressed in all white. The girl looks around the room confused about where she is. The door blends into the wall leaving no trace of it. She looks behind her and touches the wall where the door once was. The room is also all white and glows. The girl examines the room trying to figure out where she is. She knocks the wall with her fist. She presses her ear to the floor. She goes to the other side of the room, to check if something was there. Finds nothing. She goes back to the wall where the door was and examines it again. Her efforts were wasted. She knew nothing about what this room was. * She is examining another wall, her ears catch a buzzing sound. She looks around to see where the sound is coming from. She is surprised when something starts emerging from the floor right in the center of the room. What had emerged was a mirror. Its frame was made...

The Panda Who Never Climbed a Tree To The Top

There was once a panda. He was a relatively nice panda. He had a bag, belly and a hand full of bamboo.   This relatively nice panda with a bag, belly and hand full of bamboo, travelled everywhere he could. He looked up at the sky, constantly. It was beautiful but, then his neck started to hurt. So he started to look down. All he could see was his belly. An hour he was looking at his belly. Apparently there is nothing interesting about bellies. He almost fell asleep 4 times while looking at his belly. The danger of getting hurt was too great, so he decided to look ahead. Smart decision. The panda wondered why he hadn’t been doing all this time. While on his journey to look ahead, he met a lot of animals.  The 1 st  one were squirrels. Squirrels were interesting to him. They were always running. He wondered why they were always in a hurry.  He decided to sit there on the ground and eat more bamboo. (Classic panda!)  He noticed them carrying acorns back to t...

Balloon Boy

A boy in an orange skintight jumpsuit, stretching from his head to toe, floats in mid-air. An orange tint on his face. A peaceful smile stretches across his face.  Above him and below him is nothing but air and an orange sky and ground that stretches to infinity. He lightly moves his feet rhythmically to propel himself. There is no effort as no effort is needed. * We find him floating still, his back to the sky, no floating. His eyes open almost on cue as an oval shape emerges from the ground, rising slowly. A tired look on his face, he clumsily tries to sit up in the air. Doing two complete backflips before he ultimately lands on the platform which came to meet him. The platform lightly vibrates which makes the boy sigh in relief as it massages him. From the platform a mechanical arm, also orange, erupts with an apple. He opens his mouth, and takes a bite from the apple brought to his face. An expression of discomfort on his face appears. He spits out the apple, annoyed. Sen...

Mallie

In an otherwise dark bedroom lit by one overhead lamp, lays a man, he has pale skin and curly hair. He is staring at a glass box which is kept on his side table with a kind smile on his face. In the box is a woman, an 3 inch tall woman, her hair is all white and yet her skin is young. While it is obvious that she isn’t starving from the looks of it, her expression still shows fatigue, extreme fatigue. On the box with black marker is written the name, ‘Mallie’.  She looks over at him with a blank expression. His smile is unwavering and persistent, in his eyes hope for a response, she returns it with a small frown and lays down, on her side, her face turned away from him. * The door is now open outside it a small clean apartment. The light behind the curtains of the window indicates it is morning. He carries two plates, one of them the size of a coin. He places the coin size plate on the table next to the glass box. He pulls open a panel in the box and slides the plate in. She doesn’...
